The Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Benibo Anabraba, has officially announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In a letter dated January 5, 2026, addressed to the PDP chairman of Ward 1 in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Anabraba cited personal considerations as the reason for his departure.
In his correspondence, he expressed gratitude for the platform, support, and political opportunities the PDP provided him during his tenure. However, he did not reveal his next political steps.
Reliable sources indicate that Anabraba may be preparing to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) shortly.
This resignation occurs amidst rising political tensions in Rivers State, with notable developments including the recent departure of the Deputy Governor to the APC and calls for support towards President Tinubu’s administration.
