Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara has stated that he is growing stronger each day, buoyed by the support of the people during the ongoing political crisis in the state. He expressed gratitude for the presence of true leaders and well-meaning individuals standing firmly against tyranny and oppression.
Fubara and his predecessor, former Governor Nyesom Wike, have been embroiled in a political rivalry over state leadership. In a press release issued in Port Harcourt on Saturday by his Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara pledged to continue making principled decisions.
During a Christmas Ballad hosted by former Governor Sir Peter Odili, Fubara declared that God has proven to be the Ultimate Liberator of the state and its citizens, helping them triumph over the political turmoil.
He reflected on how the political challenges provided him with a new perspective on leadership, viewing the crisis not as an obstacle but as a catalyst for governance. “I draw strength from the support I receive from the true people of Rivers,” he said. “Your encouragement empowers me to stand up for you.”
Fubara emphasized that God remains the ultimate force behind their successes, assuring citizens that 2025 would bring improvements compared to previous years. He committed to making each subsequent year better, highlighting the festive spirit among Rivers people during Christmas as a sign of a promising future.
Former Governor Odili praised Fubara for confronting political challenges and safeguarding the state from becoming a private estate for one individual. He acknowledged Fubara’s efforts in stabilizing governance and restoring happiness among civil servants and residents.
Odili noted that the ongoing struggle for the soul of Rivers State began on October 25, 2023, and emphasized his family’s decision to host Fubara in recognition of his fortitude and leadership.
Justice Mary Odili, who presented gifts to Fubara and his family, remarked on Fubara’s role as an emancipator for the state, pledging her family’s continued support for his administration.
