First Lady Remi Tinubu has donated ₦1 billion to victims of the recent attacks in parts of Plateau State. During her condolence visit on Thursday, she clarified that the donation came from her personal funds raised through the Renewed Hope Initiative, not from government coffers.
Tinubu stated that the funds were meant to bring life and development to the country, rather than serving personal greed. She emphasized that the money was raised personally to help others and asked for prayers to make a lasting change through the Renewed Hope Initiative. In addition to the monetary donation, she also provided food items and clothing.
Tinubu appealed to traditional leaders to bring lasting peace to Plateau State, emphasizing that her visit was from the heart of a mother, not for political reasons. She expressed hope that future visits would be for the progress and tourism of the state, not for responding to crises. She urged the youth to embrace peace and national unity and encouraged children to explore Nigeria without fear.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang expressed gratitude for the First Lady’s visit and assured her that leaders were working together to end the decades of crisis and violence in Plateau State. He acknowledged her clear focus on uplifting humanity and recognized her gesture as one that would leave a lasting memory.
