The Commissioner of Police for Katsina State, Mr. Bello Shehu, has mandated the activation of all school protection mechanisms to enhance the safety of students and staff. This directive follows a meeting with tactical commanders aimed at reviewing the state’s security strategies.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, Shehu noted that this initiative aligns with the Inspector General of Police’s orders to prioritize security around educational institutions.
The commissioner emphasized the deployment of additional resources to ensure heightened security in schools across the state. He urged the public to support ongoing crime-fighting measures and report any suspicious activities to the police.
The rising number of school attacks and student abductions in northern Nigeria has raised significant concerns, prompting some governments to temporarily close schools as a protective measure.
