The Lagos State Police Command has officially refuted rumors circulating on social media about an alleged explosion in the state. Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh confirmed that no explosion took place on Friday, April 19, following widespread panic triggered by misleading reports.

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, it was clarified that the viral video causing the alarm actually originated from a separate incident that occurred on April 11 at a CCTV shop in Computer Village, Ikeja. This earlier explosion is currently under investigation, and police are working to gather more information regarding the incident.

Commissioner Jimoh reassured residents that they can continue their daily activities without fear, highlighting that the police have implemented robust measures to ensure public safety and order across the state. He emphasized the need for a strong police presence to deter any potential threats and maintain peace.

Moreover, the Commissioner urged the public to refrain from spreading false information that could incite unnecessary panic and anxiety within the community. He reiterated the police’s commitment to protecting lives and property throughout Lagos State, stressing the significance of accurate information in fostering a sense of security among residents.

The police command remains dedicated to upholding peace and order, and they encourage residents to report any suspicious activities immediately. By working together, both the police and the community can ensure a safer environment for all.
