The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed a loud explosion that occurred at the General Hospital in Bagudo on Tuesday, causing panic among local residents. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, assured the public that the security situation is under control following the incident. He stated that a joint team composed of police, military, and vigilante personnel was promptly deployed to secure the area and prevent any further threats.
“The Kebbi State Police Command has full control of the security situation following the explosion,” Usman said, adding that EOD-CBRN specialists were sent in to conduct a thorough assessment of the site.
Although a building within the hospital’s staff quarters sustained damage, it was reported that the occupants had already evacuated safely prior to the explosion. The Commissioner of Police has ordered additional tactical deployments to the vicinity to maintain public order and reassure community members.
A comprehensive investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the explosion, with updates being promised as they become available. Meanwhile, the police have urged residents to remain calm and steer clear of the hospital area to allow security personnel to effectively carry out their duties.
Normalcy has reportedly returned to the community, which had been thrown into panic and confusion following the blast. Investigations continue as authorities work to uncover the cause and those responsible for the explosion.
