The Zamfara chapters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are exchanging accusations regarding alleged irregularities in the recently held Kaura Namoda South by-election.
PDP State Chairman Dr. Jamilu Magayaki expressed satisfaction with voter turnout and the overall conduct of the electorate. However, he alleged that the peaceful process was disrupted by APC officials in collusion with security operatives, who intimidated PDP members and manipulated the election monitoring process.
Magayaki claimed that in polling units like Sakajiki and Kyambarawa, PDP officials were chased away, and security personnel assisted the APC in disenfranchising voters. He urged those affected to remain resolute for a forthcoming rerun election.
In response, APC Publicity Secretary Alh. Yusuf Idris accused the PDP of deploying thugs to destabilize the election. He praised the resilience of voters who participated despite facing intimidation and alleged that the PDP was attempting to manipulate the inconclusive results.
Idris expressed confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to resist electoral malpractice and urged APC supporters to remain calm as they await INEC’s decision.
