Paystack, a leading Nigerian fintech company, has suspended co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Ezra Olubi following allegations of sexual misconduct. The situation escalated after social media posts emerged, detailing personal complaints from a former relationship with Olubi.
The controversy intensified as past tweets from Olubi, dating back to 2009-2013, resurfaced, containing sexually suggestive remarks involving colleagues and minors. These tweets raised significant public concern over accountability in professional behavior.
In response to the allegations, Paystack has initiated a formal investigation. A company statement emphasized, “We take matters of this nature extremely seriously,” confirming Olubi’s immediate suspension from all duties as the investigation unfolds.
Founded in 2015 by Olubi and Shola Akinlade, Paystack has become a key player in the African payment processing landscape, and it was acquired by Stripe in 2020. The company has stated that it will not provide further comments while the investigation is ongoing.
