The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has officially endorsed the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Ademola Adeleke for the upcoming 2027 presidential and 2026 gubernatorial elections. This decision was made during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House and was communicated to the media by Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.
The meeting highlighted that Governor Adeleke’s choice to remain within the PDP was influenced by opposition from members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who criticized the idea of his defection to their party. The communique issued after the meeting condemned the way certain APC members publicly disparaged the governor regarding the political dynamics in Osun State.
Significantly, the communique, signed by Governor Adeleke, former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, PDP Chairman Sunday Bisi, Senator Lere Oyewumi, and 24 other stakeholders, reaffirmed their support for Adeleke’s re-election on the PDP platform. It emphasized the importance of Osun State as the ancestral home of President Tinubu, declaring him a “son of Osun State” and thereby endorsing him for re-election in the presidential race.
The communique read: “The PDP in Osun State recognizes the fact that Osun State is the ancestral home of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which makes the President the son of Osun State. Therefore, the PDP in Osun State hereby adopts, and endorses President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 presidential election.”
Furthermore, it directed the PDP leadership in Osun to disseminate this resolution across all party structures within the state. The governor was encouraged to continue focusing on governance and the implementation of his administration’s Five Point Agenda.
This endorsement reflects a strategic alignment within the PDP as it prepares for future electoral challenges, signaling a commitment to unity and collaboration among party members while confronting opposition narratives.
