Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North and former governor of Abia State, has pledged to ensure that the All Progressives Congress (APC) captures Abia State in the upcoming 2027 governorship election. He made this declaration during his annual New Year visit to the APC Chairman in Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, held in Ekoli, Edda Local Government Area.
Despite acknowledging that the current governor of Abia is from the Labour Party and a personal friend, Kalu reiterated his commitment to voting for the APC in the next election, stating, “I believe that in 2027, Abia will be captured by the APC. I will work to ensure President Tinubu wins in Abia State and will support any APC governor.”
Kalu emphasized the importance of state governors in maintaining security, advising them not to leave security responsibilities solely to President Tinubu. Reflecting on his tenure as governor, he noted that Abia was remarkably safe during his administration, contrasting it with the security challenges faced by other states at the time.
Acknowledging the loyalty of Chief Okoro-Emegha, Kalu praised him as a trusted ally who has consistently demonstrated commitment. He expressed confidence in Okoro-Emegha’s capabilities and contributions to security in Ebonyi State.
Kalu’s remarks highlight his ambition to reclaim Abia for the APC while emphasizing the importance of governance and security in ensuring a prosperous future for the state.
