One Dead, Three Rescued in Lagos Building Collapse

A tragic incident occurred in the Mushin area of Lagos State, where a one-storey building under construction collapsed around 3:30 PM on Sunday. One construction worker was confirmed dead, while three others were successfully rescued.

Ibrahim Farinloye, coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), reported that search and rescue operations are ongoing. The deceased was among the workers trapped under the rubble.

Shakiru Amodu, spokesperson for the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the recovery of the body and stated that the three rescued individuals are currently receiving medical treatment.

The building collapse happened at 96 Ishaga Road, opposite Idi Araba Central Mosque. Emergency responders included the Isolo Fire Station of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, Lagos State Ambulance Service, and Nigeria Police.

Margaret Adeseye, director of the fire service agency, indicated that the building was still under construction at the time of the incident.
