Abba Atiku, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has declared that no political party can defeat President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. This statement was made in Yola, Adamawa State, shortly after Abba registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Motivated by a desire to contribute to the administration’s “far-reaching economic and human development reforms,” Abba emphasized his belief in Tinubu’s governance. He stated, “Nigerians have seen his good work; he is not a tribalist and he doesn’t make appointments based on religion or region. His decisions are purely on merit.”
Abba is particularly inspired by the infrastructural growth and human capital development under Tinubu’s leadership. He urged party members and the public to mobilize support for the president, highlighting the importance of backing the administration beyond party affiliations.
While Abba Atiku is now with the APC, his brother, Adamu Atiku, remains with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and serves as the Commissioner for Works and Energy Development in Adamawa. Meanwhile, their father, Atiku Abubakar, is reportedly planning to run for the presidency under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), although none of his sons are members of that party.
This declaration from Abba Atiku reflects the ongoing political dynamics in Nigeria as the 2027 elections approach, highlighting divisions and shifts within influential political families.
