The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has issued an apology to President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) following recent verbal attacks from the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso. The NNPP warned Kwankwaso against further using its platform for these attacks, noting that he has been expelled from the party.
In a statement from Dr. Oginni Olaposi, the NNPP’s National Publicity Secretary, the party disowned Kwankwaso’s comments and severed ties with him and the Kwankwasiya Movement. Olaposi stated, “We hereby tender an unreserved apology to President Tinubu and the entire APC family for the unwarranted insults and abuse.”
He clarified that Kwankwaso no longer represents the NNPP and emphasized that his outbursts reflect his personal opinions, not the party’s stance. Olaposi referenced multiple court rulings that upheld Kwankwaso’s expulsion, urging the media and public to stop identifying him as a representative of the NNPP.
Olaposi concluded by reiterating the party’s commitment to constructive national development under the leadership of Dr. Boniface Aniebonam.
