NiMet Predicts 3-Day Thunderstorms and Rain

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted thundery weather and rain across the country from Friday to Sunday. According to the weather outlook released on Thursday, thunderstorms are expected in the northern region on Friday, with light to moderate rains anticipated in the early morning hours over parts of Borno, Yobe, Kaduna, Bauchi, and Gombe states.

In the afternoon and evening, thunderstorms with moderate rains are likely in regions including Adamawa, Yobe, Sokoto, Zamfara, and others. The central region will see sunny skies with patches of clouds and a chance of light rain over Plateau and Nasarawa states.

For the southern region, cloudy skies are predicted with morning light rains in Imo, Abia, Anambra, and other states. Light rain is expected later in the day across various southern states.

On Saturday, the northern region will experience sunny skies in the morning, with thunderstorms expected in the afternoon. The central region will see morning light rains and light rains in the afternoon/evening.

By Sunday, sunny skies with patches of clouds are expected in the north, while the central region may experience morning light rains and moderate rains later in the day. The southern region will have light to moderate rains throughout.

NiMet has advised the public to take precautions, such as securing loose items, avoiding driving under heavy rain, and staying informed through weather updates. Airline operators are also encouraged to consult NiMet for airport-specific weather reports for effective planning.
