Former Senate Leader, Senator Ali Ndume, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his renewed commitment to tackling Nigeria’s security challenges. Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, Ndume said recent measures taken by the president have begun yielding positive results.

He highlighted a series of recent security threats, including mass abductions in Kebbi, Niger, and Kwara states, noting that Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency, deployment of forest guards, and improved welfare for security forces are already making an impact.

Ndume also pointed to the government’s efforts to enhance the capabilities of the Nigerian Police Force and the Army, including the provision of new arms, uniforms, protective gear, and training. He urged the federal government to further prioritize procurement of attack helicopters, armored personnel carriers, and gun trucks to strengthen operations against criminal activities.

“The directive to engage forest guards, coupled with their training, has complemented the efforts of the military,” Ndume said, adding that cooperation between the Armed Forces and other security agencies has improved visibly.

The senator also called on northern governors to emulate Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, who has invested over N100 billion in security support for his state.
