The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on President Bola Tinubu to leave the Presidential Villa and interact directly with ordinary Nigerians to better understand the country’s security situation. Bolaji Abdullahi, spokesperson for the ADC, made this statement during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
Abdullahi expressed concern that President Tinubu is being misled by state governors and close aides regarding the reality of insecurity in Nigeria. He emphasized the need for the president to engage with the public instead of relying on narratives that suggest improvements in security.
His comments followed statements from Daniel Bwala, a media aide to the president, who claimed that insecurity in Nigeria has decreased under the current administration. Bwala pointed to improvements in states like Benue and Plateau, attributing a decline in violence to actions against groups like the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Abdullahi strongly disagreed with Bwala’s assessment, warning that such claims create a false sense of security for the president. He highlighted the ongoing threats faced by communities across the country and the daily struggles of ordinary Nigerians in dealing with criminal activities.
