The Labour Party (LP) has submitted the list of Interim State Working Committee members for 32 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as part of ongoing restructuring efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Interim National Publicity Secretary, Ife Salako, confirmed that the lists for Ondo, Ekiti, Niger, and Kwara states are still being concluded, adding that they will be forwarded to INEC once internal issues involving party leaders in those states are resolved.

Salako urged members in the affected states to remain patient, noting that the process is being handled with urgency and in line with the party’s constitution and resolutions of its National Working Committee and National Executive Council.

As part of its preparations for the 2027 presidential, national, state, and local elections, the party also notified INEC of the constitution of a National Steering Committee for Membership Revalidation and New Registration.

The committee will oversee the national rollout of LP’s new membership mobilisation project, “Labour Party Connect 10 Million Nigerians… Connecting 10 Million Patriots for a New Nigeria.”

The revalidation and registration exercise will run from December 17, 2025 to January 20, 2026, and will be chaired by the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu. Comrade Ladi Iliya and Dr. Kingsley Okundaye will serve as deputy chairmen, with Kamal Yusuf Ahmed as secretary.

The Labour Party called on its members nationwide to participate fully in the exercise and encouraged new supporters — particularly Nigerians dissatisfied with what it described as the hardship under the current APC-led federal government — to register and join the movement for a “New Nigeria.”

They also urged the newly constituted interim committees in all states to work closely with the National Steering Committee to ensure a seamless exercise and help the party achieve its target of registering 10 million members.

The party expressed gratitude to Nigerians and the media for their support during what it described as “recent challenging times,” warning that the forces behind its earlier internal crises — now resolved by the Supreme Court — “are still lurking.”
