The Katsina Progressive Youths Alliance has voiced strong discontent regarding President Bola Tinubu’s administration, endorsing the Katsina Elders Forum’s position to mobilize against his re-election unless he addresses serious issues such as insecurity and economic decline.
In a statement released by spokesperson Kabir Umar, the group expressed its dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of critics, specifically mentioning Professor Usman Yusuf, and highlighted the rising hardships faced by the populace.
The statement criticized Justice Sadiq Abdullahi Mahuta for distancing himself from the Elders Forum’s stance, questioning whether he is content with the current state of poverty, inflation, and inadequate public services. The group argued that Mahuta’s disassociation raises concerns about his support for the government’s approach to governance and accountability.
The KPYA emphasized that the Elders Forum represents the type of leadership needed in Nigeria—one that prioritizes the welfare of the people over political interests. They stated, “No leader should be allowed to govern without accountability when their policies result in widespread suffering.”
The youth group highlighted the severe challenges facing Nigeria today, including high poverty rates, inflation, and a lack of basic services like electricity and healthcare. They accused the current administration of silencing dissent and neglecting the pressing needs of the citizens.
In their concluding remarks, the KPYA called for unity among the people of Katsina to demand better governance and reforms. They urged all stakeholders to work together to create a brighter future for the nation, promoting hope and resilience in the face of ongoing struggles.
