Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has issued a warning to his appointees who remain loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that further disloyalty will result in consequences. This warning comes shortly after he sacked two aides for attending the PDP national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, against his orders.

The two sacked appointees, Mr. Joseph Ekpak (Senior Special Assistant) and Felix Ekuri (Special Assistant), were allies of former Governor Udom Emmanuel. Governor Eno expressed that his administration would be “adversarial” to those who do not fully commit their loyalty to him. He stated that one cannot serve two masters, and those who benefit from his government must be fully supportive.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Enobong Uwah, affirmed that the swearing-in of the new Head of Civil Service (HoCS), Mrs. Elsie Anietie Peters, demonstrates the government’s dedication to enhancing professionalism and productivity within the civil service. Mrs. Peters’ appointment follows the retirement of the former HoCS, Elder Effiong Essien, and she is expected to revitalize the state’s administrative structure.

In related developments, Governor Eno has tasked the new Head of Civil Service, Mrs. Elsie Anietie Peters, to prioritize workforce training and boost professionalism. Mrs. Peters pledged to uphold diligence, integrity, and accountability in her new role. The governor has been facing political tension since his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), with concerns about the loyalty of some officials.
