Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has appointed five special advisers, including two ex-commissioners from his administration. This appointment comes just 72 hours after a cabinet reshuffle that saw the Commissioner for Sports, Christopher Green, redeployed as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.

In a statement from Dr. Honour Sirawoo, Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Information and Communications, it was confirmed that Green will continue to manage the Ministry of Sports until a new commissioner is appointed.

Among the new special advisers are Prof. Peter Medee, former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, and Barr. Eloka Tasie-Amadi, former Commissioner for Works. Both were impacted by a recent Supreme Court ruling that declared Martin Amaewhule as the legitimate Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The new appointees will be sworn in on January 2, 2026, at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House in Port Harcourt, with the event scheduled for noon. The State Ministry of Information has advised that those attending should arrive by 11:30 a.m. for the ceremony.
