Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany, Femi Fani-Kayode, has dismissed the African Democratic Congress as a viable opposition force, describing the party as a group driven by desperation for power.
Speaking on the state of opposition politics, the former aviation minister said the ADC lacks the credibility and capacity to move the country forward.
Fani-Kayode also declared that opposition politics in Nigeria has effectively collapsed, blaming internal divisions and lack of coordination among opposition parties.
In a post on his Facebook page, he said opposition groups have failed in their core responsibility of holding the government accountable, citing persistent infighting as a major weakness.
“I don’t see ADC as an opposition party, I see them as an association of people that are desperate for power,” he said.
He described members of the party as discredited individuals with no clear vision for national development.
According to him, the absence of unity and strategic direction among opposition figures has made them ineffective in challenging the government.
“How can they keep the government on its toes when they are busy bickering among themselves and fighting one another,” he added.
Fani-Kayode maintained that until opposition parties overcome internal conflicts and present a united front, they will remain unable to play a meaningful role in Nigeria’s democracy.
