Operatives of the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps have arrested five suspected gunmen shortly after their arrival in the state. The suspects were apprehended on Wednesday in the Ekiti West Local Government Area, with arms and other items recovered from them, as confirmed by Amotekun State Communications Officer, Adeleye Adewale.
The suspects, identified as Abdulahi Makana (28), Shuaba Ibrahim (25), Adamu Muhammed (25), Shlibu Umar (31), and Aruna Yahaya (28), reportedly hail from the northern region of Nigeria and were arrested at Itawure upon alighting from a vehicle. Following reports from local residents, the Amotekun Command swiftly responded to the scene.
Recovered items included two locally-made guns, one axe, a daga (a local sword), two dogs, five cell phones, and assorted charms. Upon interrogation, the suspects claimed to be farmers but failed to provide evidence to support their claims. The suspects and the exhibits recovered have been handed over to the Ekiti West Police Command for further investigation and necessary action.
