Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu has urged the South East region to align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, highlighting significant achievements in infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and education. During the inauguration of the Renewed Hope Partners in Ukwa West, Abia State, Kalu emphasized the region’s development, noting the establishment of the South East Development Commission and the revival of the Port Harcourt-Maiduguri rail corridor. He stated that the compressed natural gas initiative could save ₦2 trillion monthly in fuel costs and praised efforts to distribute fertilizers and equipment to farmers.

Kalu called for support for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, underscoring the importance of local government councils in implementing federal policies. He affirmed that the South-East is experiencing positive changes and is starting to feel the effects of inclusion and investment.

He announced various initiatives, including a $1 billion asset base for the SEDC, a ₦150 billion South-East Investment Company, and the development of the Anambra Gas Basin, which aims to make the area an energy hub. Kalu also mentioned plans for large-scale farming and a ₦45.6 billion allocation for student loans to enhance education.

He concluded his address by encouraging citizens to seize the opportunities created by the Renewed Hope Agenda for a brighter future in the region.
