David Mark, Babachir Lawal, and Malam Bolaji Abdullahi of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) met with former President Goodluck Jonathan in a closed-door meeting in Abuja. The meeting occurred shortly after ADC leaders held a strategy session. Sources suggest the meeting aimed to brief Jonathan on activities within the coalition party.

This meeting comes amid reports that the PDP has been trying to woo Jonathan back to the party to fly its flag in the 2027 elections. Jonathan and Peter Obi had also met two weeks prior.

In related news, Jonathan has stated that democracy will endure in Africa when leaders imbibe integrity, humility, and respect for institutional processes. He made these remarks on his X (formerly Twitter) handle while congratulating the people of Malawi for the peaceful conduct of their recent election. He also congratulated President-elect Peter Arthur Mutharika and commended the incumbent, President Lazarus Chakwera, for conceding defeat. Jonathan described Malawi’s example as a beacon of hope and a lesson in democratic maturity for Africa.
