An Abuja High Court has set aside the arrest warrant earlier issued against Kabiru Turaki, a factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Justice Peter Kekemeke vacated the order after Turaki appeared in court and his lawyer apologised for his previous absence.
Turaki’s counsel, Chris Uche, told the court that both he and his client did not deliberately ignore proceedings. He also withdrew an earlier application seeking to stop the execution of the arrest order.
The prosecution did not oppose the request, noting that the purpose of the warrant had already been achieved since the defendant was now present in court.
The judge subsequently cancelled the arrest order and adjourned the case to April 22 for arraignment on a pending charge filed by the police.
