The Kano Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has been ordered by a Kano State High Court to conduct the local government elections on Saturday.
In a case brought by the state independent electoral commission against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 13 other parties, the state high court’s Justice Sanusi Ma’aji issued the ruling on Friday.
According to Justice Ma’aji, KANSIEC has the constitutional authority to oversee, conduct, and hold local government elections in each of the 44 LGAS.
Any attempt to constrict the poll’s execution, he insisted, is nullity.
Justice Ma’aji also gave the security services an urgent order to protect people and property while tomorrow’s poll is being conducted.
