Dele Momodu, a prominent chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has said the same political “gang” that helped late former President Muhammadu Buhari win in 2015 is prepared to support the ADC’s presidential candidate in the 2027 elections against President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on the Arise News Morning Show, Momodu named the group to include former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, ex-Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and ex-Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal. He also revealed Atiku Abubakar as his preferred candidate for the ADC ticket.
Momodu emphasized that defeating Tinubu requires strategy and experience rather than just popularity. He explained that former allies of Tinubu, including members of Buhari’s 2015 team, are disenchanted and ready to back the ADC.
He further noted that ADC should focus on regions where APC is weaker, particularly the North-East, highlighting Atiku’s appeal and potential to win support in areas historically overlooked by APC.
