President Bola Tinubu has arrived at the Umaru Musa Yaradua International Airport in Katsina to attend the state burial of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari. The Nigerian leader landed around 1:48 PM and was welcomed by Governor Dikko Radda, former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, and various government officials, including ministers and National Assembly members.
Buhari’s remains were transported from London to Daura, his hometown, ahead of the state burial. A military ceremony is set to take place upon the arrival of the body before it is moved for the Jana’iza (funeral prayer) and interment.
As part of the national mourning, condolence registers will be opened across federal ministries and Nigerian embassies worldwide. An Inter-Ministerial Committee has been established to coordinate the burial arrangements, with 25 members of the Federal Executive Council directed to attend the rites and prayers scheduled for Wednesday.
The outpouring of condolences from global leaders underscores Buhari’s legacy and stature on the world stage.
