Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This announcement was made via a Facebook post by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah. Alongside Diri, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Abraham Ingobere, and all PDP members in the state legislature have also resigned.
The resignation ends months of speculation regarding Diri’s potential move to the All Progressives Congress (APC), although Alabrah did not disclose which party the governor plans to join next. Diri made the announcement during a State Executive Council meeting at the Government House in Yenagoa, and he has reportedly submitted his resignation letter to the party.
It is believed that all members of the State Executive Council have resigned alongside the governor. When approached for comments, Alabrah stated he was unable to speak at the moment.
