At least 24 individuals, including 20 farmers, three residents, and a community watch operative, were killed by bandits in Katsina State. The attacks occurred in the Kankara Local Government Area, known for frequent violence.

A local resident reported that the bandits targeted farmers in several villages, including Yargoje and Kwakware, killing and kidnapping many while rustling their livestock. In a separate incident, bandits attacked Marmara village, resulting in the death of a community watch member and injuries to two others.

The recent surge in violence may be linked to peace agreements reached in neighboring areas, suggesting that conflicts in one region can provoke attacks in others. Meanwhile, the Katsina Police Command successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt in Mazare village, rescuing four victims, including a baby, after a gun battle with the assailants.
