A tragic incident occurred on Saturday night in Fananawa village, located in the Bukuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where bandits attacked, resulting in the death of one person and the kidnapping of several others.
Residents reported that the attackers stormed the village, operating from night until dawn. One local, Malam Sani, recounted the events, stating, “The marauders entered the village, killed one person, kidnapped seven others, and shot another who sustained serious injuries.” This injured victim has since been taken to the Teaching Hospital in Sokoto.
The Zamfara State Police Command acknowledged the incident but reported that five people had been kidnapped. The command’s spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed that police personnel have launched a rescue operation, expressing confidence in their success: “Our personnel are currently on a rescue mission, and very soon you will hear a success story.”
The ongoing violence in this region, including an earlier bomb blast, highlights the precarious security situation in the area, drawing attention to the need for urgent intervention and support from security forces.
