Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticized the recent spate of bandit attacks in Kajuru, Kaduna State, emphasizing that peace negotiations often benefit the criminals rather than the communities affected. In a statement released on January 21, Atiku expressed concern over the rising boldness of bandits, who continue their assaults without consequences.
He highlighted that while discussions for peace are necessary, they should not compromise community safety or favor bandits. Atiku pointed out that current government strategies appeared ineffective, with promises of security remaining unfulfilled under the Bola Tinubu-led APC administration.
Atiku’s comments follow reports of abductions during a church service in Kajuru, as confirmed by the Force Public Relations Officer. He stressed that mere rhetoric is insufficient; tangible results are required to restore public confidence in the government’s ability to address insecurity.
