Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have successfully neutralized two suspected bandits and recovered approximately 1,000 rustled cattle in Taraba State. This operation was carried out in collaboration with personnel from Operation Safe Haven.

According to a statement from Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, the operation occurred near Jebjeb village in the Karim Lamido Local Government Area. It was a coordinated response to a bandit attack involving over 30 armed men on motorcycles who crossed into Taraba from Plateau State.

Upon receiving credible intelligence about the bandits’ movement after they attacked a Fulani settlement, the troops mobilized to engage them. During a fierce firefight, the soldiers successfully neutralized two bandits and recovered the cattle.

The recovered livestock have been safely relocated to the Jebjeb community, and steps are being taken to verify ownership for their return.

Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the troops’ swift response and emphasized the importance of cooperation between security agencies. He urged local residents to continue providing timely information to aid in the fight against banditry and enhance community safety.

This operation reinforces the military’s commitment to combatting criminal activities and ensuring the security of communities in the region.
