The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has characterized opposition parties participating in the upcoming Anambra governorship election as “mere participants,” asserting their lack of serious contention. Mazi Ejimofor Opara, APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, made these comments in Awka, emphasizing APGA’s dominance in Anambra and the South East.
Opara cited the internal struggles within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) as indicators of their weakened positions. He described recent electoral performances of opposition candidates as poor, suggesting that they lack substantive support.
Commenting on Governor Peter Mbah’s defection from the PDP to the APC, Opara noted that such moves reflect ongoing divisions within the PDP. He affirmed that APGA remains committed to its values and leadership, asserting that it will continue to thrive despite opposition claims of decline.
In response to suggestions that APGA might be losing ground, Opara dismissed them as propaganda from struggling opposition parties, insisting that APGA will prevail in the forthcoming election.
