Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s legal team has raised concerns about what they describe as selective justice following the Federal Government’s decision to file criminal charges against her. This comes despite multiple unresolved petitions she submitted earlier this year.

In a statement from her lawyer, Uju Nwoduwu, the team highlighted 12 petitions filed between March and May 2025. These petitions include serious allegations such as cyberstalking, defamation, threats to life, and an attempted assassination.

The legal team noted that none of the complaints have been addressed by the Nigeria Police Force or relevant security agencies. They expressed concern over the lack of action on Akpoti-Uduaghan’s petitions while counter-allegations from those she accused, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, have been quickly pursued.

“This disparity raises serious questions about the fairness and impartiality of the justice system,” the statement read.

Some of the unresolved petitions involve high-ranking officials and serious incidents, including the alleged abduction of a protocol officer. Currently abroad for personal matters, Akpoti-Uduaghan has acknowledged the charges and is committed to making herself available for arraignment when a date is set.

Her legal team reiterated their dedication to due process and thanked the public for their support regarding what they call “questionable criminal charges.” They concluded with a call for thorough investigations into all outstanding petitions and for justice to be applied equally.
