Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has named his daughter Helen Eno Obareki as acting first lady.
This follows days after death of his late wife, Pastor Patience Umo Eno.
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, led a delegation of dignitaries to condole with Governor Eno on Friday, including Hajia Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President.
Senator Tinubu applauded Governor Eno’s choice, pointing out that it is a considerate method of preserving the late Patience Eno’s memory. “Even though Patience’s life was brief, she finished her race, and for that I am grateful to God. God bless you, your loved ones, and your children.
Governor Eno, in the meantime, reminisced on his close relationship with his late wife, defining her as his “toughest critic and greatest supporter.”
“This is not going to be an easy task,” he remarked. However, in order to preserve the First Lady’s position and carry on my late wife’s legacy, I give our daughter Helen the authority to continue the duties of the office of the first lady.
