Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, has announced the withdrawal of all ongoing defamation lawsuits against several individuals. This decision follows an inspirational sermon he attended at the Sacred Heart Parish in Uyo, where the priest’s words resonated deeply with him.

During a Thursday service, Akpabio revealed that he had previously filed nearly nine lawsuits against individuals he accused of defamation. He stated, “I had almost nine cases in court against some individuals who defamed me, who lied against me, who slandered my name.”

The priest’s homily emphasized the importance of peace and the need to let go of past grievances. Inspired by this message, Akpabio instructed his lawyers to formally withdraw all pending lawsuits. He expressed a commitment to peace, saying that he realized the sermon spoke directly to him.

With this announcement, Akpabio has resolved his legal disputes, signaling a fresh start at the beginning of the new year.
