President Bola Tinubu is saddened by the current disarray among Nigeria’s opposition parties and desires a more vibrant and organized opposition, according to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Arterial Road N20 Interchange Bridges in the Federal Capital Territory, Akpabio conveyed that President Tinubu, as a committed democrat, believes a strong opposition is vital for the health of Nigeria’s political landscape.

“President Bola Tinubu is very interested in seeing a vibrant opposition. It saddens him when he sees the way the opposition is in disarray,” Akpabio stated.

He noted that both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party are struggling with internal divisions. Akpabio mentioned receiving a letter from the Labour Party, indicating that its issues are similar to those of the PDP.

Additionally, Akpabio announced the defection of Senator Neda Imasuen from the Labour Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasizing that the APC welcomes new members.

Tinubu had previously criticized the opposition during his Democracy Day speech, stating that he would not assist them in resolving their internal conflicts.
