The Federal Ministry of Education has rejected claims that schools across Nigeria are set to close on November 24, 2025, due to security concerns. In a statement issued on November 22, the ministry described the reports circulating on social media as “false and misleading.”

Folasade Boriowo, the ministry’s spokesperson, emphasized that no directive regarding school closures has been issued by the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, or any recognized security agency. She urged the public to rely on verified information from official sources and to disregard unofficial announcements.

The ministry’s statement comes in light of recent events, including the Federal Government’s temporary closure of 41 federal secondary schools in high-risk areas following a surge in abductions in Niger and Kebbi states. Several state governments have also taken precautionary measures by shutting down schools, reflecting growing security concerns.
