As the campaigns for the November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State begin, the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency has announced a permit fee of ₦50 million for each political party wishing to erect billboards and engage in outdoor campaigning activities.

Tony Ujubuonu, the Managing Director of the Agency, shared this information during a press briefing in Awka, emphasizing the guidelines for visual campaign promotions ahead of the election. He noted that the permit fee is payable to the Anambra State Government and grants parties the right to deploy various campaign materials, including posters, public address systems, branded vehicles, and more across all 21 local government areas.

With at least 16 political parties cleared for the election, the total expected revenue from these fees could reach ₦800 million for the state. Ujubuonu highlighted the importance of adhering to the regulatory framework governing campaign activities, particularly following the lifting of the ban on political campaigns by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He urged all political parties and their supporters to respect each other’s campaign materials and to avoid any actions that might lead to defacement or violence. Ujubuonu reiterated that only advertising practitioners registered and licensed by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) are authorized to manage advertising structures within the state.

The political parties and candidates have yet to respond to this new directive, but Ujubuonu expressed hope for a peaceful and orderly campaign process.
