The National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has declared that the sit-at-home directive championed by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is rapidly losing its hold on the South-East region of Nigeria.

Speaking during the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Summit held Thursday in Abuja, Ribadu stated that the security situation in the South-East has seen significant improvement under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Ribadu attributed the progress to intensified operations against IPOB and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN). According to him, several key operatives have been arrested or neutralised, which has severely diminished the group’s operational capacity.

“The ‘sit-at-home’ orders are becoming more and more ineffective,” he said, noting that attacks on security personnel and public facilities have declined.

The NSA also announced that more than 50 police stations and outposts have been rebuilt across the region as normal life and economic activity begin to return.

The update was part of a broader presentation of the federal government’s two-year scorecard on security and other national issues.
