President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in the board and management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), marking a significant step in the company’s governance. This ceremony took place at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, just seven weeks after the board’s appointment on April 2, 2025.
The board is chaired by Ahmadu Kida, with Bashir Ojulari serving as the Group Chief Executive Officer. The 11-member board represents various regions, including:
- Adedapo Segun and Bello Rabiu for the North West
- Yusuf Usman for the North East
- Babs Omotowa, former MD of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas, for the North Central
- Austin Avuru for the South-South
- David Ige for the South-West
- Henry Obih for the South-East
Additionally, Lydia Jafiya, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance, and Aminu Ahmed from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources will also serve on the board.
Key government officials present included the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, and the Minister of State for Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri.
This new board is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the future of Nigeria’s petroleum sector as the country navigates its energy landscape.
