The Federal Government has announced that 2025 will mark a year when the transformative reforms initiated by President Bola Tinubu’s administration begin to yield tangible benefits for Nigerians. This assertion was made by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a Ministerial Press Briefing held in Abuja.

Since the current administration took office in May 2023, Nigerians have faced various economic challenges, including the removal of the fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market. Additionally, a 50% increase in the cost of data and calls has been approved, with plans to raise electricity tariffs for non-Band A customers in the upcoming months, contributing to widespread economic hardship.

Despite these challenges, Idris reaffirmed the government’s commitment to economic growth, infrastructure development, and national security. He highlighted the recent signing of a record N54.2 trillion budget by President Tinubu, which he described as a testament to the administration’s dedication to improving the lives of citizens.

“The 2025 budget is not just a financial document; it is a bold statement of intent—a roadmap for economic resilience, social stability, and national progress,” Idris stated. He emphasized that this year is set to be a time of consolidation, where all the reforms initiated by the administration will begin to show concrete results.

The budget reflects a renewed focus on key sectors such as security, infrastructure, education, health, solid minerals, and agriculture—all areas that directly impact the well-being and socio-economic development of the country. Idris assured the public that the Federal Government remains committed to efficiently implementing this budget to maximize its positive impact on citizens’ lives.

During the briefing, the Minister commended the Nigerian media for their coverage of the Ministerial Briefing Session, which provided an opportunity for ministers to share updates on their ministries and the successes achieved under their leadership.
