Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has committed to promoting unity among political leaders in the state while cautioning against what he termed “do-or-die” politics. The governor made this statement during a special prayer session held at the Government House, where he joined 4,444 Qur’anic reciters in collective devotion for peace and prosperity in Kano.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Yusuf noted that the prayers have already begun to yield positive results, citing the attendance of prominent figures, including the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, at state events as evidence of growing political harmony.
Yusuf expressed optimism regarding the resolution of the ongoing Kano Emirate conflict, asserting that the fervent prayers will lead to a satisfactory outcome for all parties involved. He emphasized his commitment to uniting politicians across ideological divides and urged them to adopt mutual respect and understanding while avoiding any form of political violence.
The governor also condemned electoral thuggery, describing youth engaged in such activities as “sons of the soil” who should contribute positively to the state’s development. He assured the residents of ongoing projects aimed at enhancing their quality of life and praised the Qur’anic reciters for their prayers for the stability of Kano.
In a show of solidarity, Barau Jibrin commended the governor’s initiative and encouraged other states to replicate similar prayer sessions to foster lasting peace and national cohesion. The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, also urged residents to remain steadfast in their prayers for the progress of both the state and the country.
