Kano State’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Services, Ibrahim Umar, has resigned, joining a growing list of officials departing their roles after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a resignation letter addressed to the governor, Umar expressed gratitude for his appointed positions but indicated that ongoing political tensions between Yusuf and his mentor, Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso, prompted his decision.
Umar’s resignation follows that of three other commissioners since the political shift began. He noted the honor of serving Kano State and emphasized the need to step aside for the state’s best interests.
With the political landscape shifting dramatically, the resignations have sparked concerns over the stability of the governor’s cabinet as officials realign in response to the changing party dynamics.
