Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has signed the state’s 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, approving a total budget size of ₦723.4 billion and pledging full and effective implementation. The signing ceremony took place on Monday at the Osun Government House in Osogbo, marking what the governor described as a crucial year for consolidating governance and expanding service delivery across the state.
Speaking at the event, Adeleke said the 2026 budget represents the final year of his administration’s first term and is designed to complete ongoing projects while launching new initiatives in line with his five-point agenda. He noted that the budget would build on foundations laid over the past three fiscal years, which he said focused on reviving abandoned projects, improving workers’ welfare, and addressing long-standing pension and salary arrears.
The governor highlighted key achievements of his administration, including investments in agricultural mechanisation, rehabilitation of schools and health facilities, construction of a five-star stadium in Osogbo, over 250 kilometres of roads across the state, multiple road dualisation projects, and flyover bridges to ease traffic congestion. He also cited innovations in energy, science, and climate change as part of efforts to modernise the state’s infrastructure and economy.
Adeleke said his government ensured value for money through reforms in procurement processes and the implementation of a local content policy aimed at reducing capital flight. He disclosed that nearly ₦4 billion had been approved for disbursement to cooperative societies to strengthen grassroots economic activities, while reforms in tax harmonisation and land administration improved the ease of doing business and attracted increased investment inflows into the state.
Describing 2026 as both a consolidation and election year, the governor assured residents that governance would not suffer despite political activities. He charged ministries, departments, and agencies to adhere strictly to budget timelines, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to completing all ongoing projects and prioritising the welfare of the people.
The Osun State House of Assembly had earlier passed the budget after revising it upward from ₦705.7 billion, describing it as a “Budget of Economic Transformation.”
