The Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, has announced a temporary disruption to its Passport Digital Platform due to scheduled system maintenance aimed at improving service delivery.
In a public notice issued on Friday, the Service said the routine maintenance exercise is intended to enhance system performance, security and overall user experience for passport applicants.
According to the NIS, the maintenance window commenced at 12:00 a.m. on December 12 and will run until 6:00 a.m. on December 14, 2025.
The Service explained that during the maintenance period, users may experience slow response times, limited access to certain passport services or temporary service interruptions.
NIS spokesperson, Akinsola Akinlabi, urged Nigerians to remain patient, assuring that technical teams are working continuously to restore full functionality within the stated timeframe.
“The exercise is critical to sustaining a secure and efficient digital passport ecosystem,” the Service said in the statement.
The Immigration Service also advised applicants who require assistance during the maintenance period to contact its support team via email or through its official social media platforms.
The announcement comes shortly after the Service activated temporary complaint-response channels on social media following the removal of its previous support accounts.
The NIS said the alternative channels were created to ensure uninterrupted engagement with applicants facing challenges related to passport and visa processing.
Applicants have been advised to direct complaints and inquiries through the approved temporary online platforms until the maintenance exercise is completed and full services are restored.
