FG Restates Commitment to Strengthening Security Around Schools

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing security around schools and ensuring the safety of students and citizens nationwide. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, made this assertion during a delegation visit to Niger State Governor Umaru Bago.

In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Malam Rabiu Ibrahim, Idris highlighted the significance of the recent rescue of abducted students from St Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary School in Niger, describing it as a moment of profound relief for the families involved and the nation as a whole.

Idris expressed gratitude for the diligent efforts of security agencies, the prompt response of the Niger State Government, and community cooperation that facilitated this successful operation. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to protecting Nigerian children, stating that their safety is a top priority, allowing them to learn in a secure environment.

Furthermore, the Minister emphasized that the Federal Government aims to collaborate closely with state authorities to enhance school security and combat violations of collective peace throughout the country. Governor Bago expressed appreciation for the visit and commended the roles played by security agencies and local communities in securing the students’ release.
