The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Dankwambo Morris, has deployed additional heavily armed officers to manage ongoing communal clashes in the Lamurde Local Government Area of the state. This action comes after Governor Ahmadu Fintiri declared a 24-hour curfew in the affected regions.
In a statement issued on Monday, police spokesman SP Suleiman Nguroje reported that violent attacks began in Lamurde on Sunday night. The police advised residents to comply with the curfew order and remain indoors to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
The statement emphasized that the Commissioner of Police has deployed more operational assets to monitor compliance with the curfew and enforce it using all legal means. The command, in collaboration with other security agencies, urged citizens to avoid actions that could threaten security in the area.
SP Nguroje warned that the police would not allow miscreants to operate unchallenged and reiterated the importance of adhering to the law.
