Retired General Christopher Musa, who previously served as Chief of Defence Staff, has officially taken on his new role as Minister of Defence. His appointment follows the resignation of former minister Muhammed Badaru and was confirmed by the Senate on Thursday.
Gen. Musa’s arrival at the Ministry of Defence, located in Ship House, Abuja, was met with a warm welcome from various sectors, with many praising his record of strong and innovative leadership during his tenure as defence chief from 2023 to 2025. His leadership is expected to enhance military operations amid ongoing security challenges.
Upon arrival at the ministry around 11:10 a.m., Gen. Musa inspected the quarter guard, adhering to military protocol, and exchanged pleasantries with service chiefs and senior officials. He is currently engaged in closed-door meetings with the service chiefs and directors of the ministry.
